welding definition and clasification

Welding

– obtaining one – piece compounds by establishing interatomic bonds between the joined parts when they are heated and (or) plastic deformation.

Metal welding

– the technological process of connecting the metal (s) with such heating and / or pressure, as a result of which the continuity of the structure of the connected metal (s) is obtained.

Notes

Can be used or not used filler metal , the melting point of which is of the same order as that of the base metal (s); the result of welding is a welded joint .
This definition also includes surfacing .

By the term: fusion welding ; pressure welding ; welded construction .
